the pill and antibiotics

I'm sorry to bother you with a question about the pill...maybe i overlooked it on your already answered questions but i don't think so. I take the 28 pill Ortho Cyclen and i am getting ready to start taking the antibiotic Z-Pack for an ear infection. I know that the Ortho is ineffective while taking an antibiotic, but i wanted to know how long this lasts. How long will the 'pill' not be effective? I just found this site and I really like it because i didn't know there was anything like this. Thank you, summer
