not sure if I have depression/anxiety or effects of a drama filled life? I feel a deep sense of being tired all the time, I am sad more often that not, I worry about everything, and I cry almost everyday (for 2yrs now), I am scared of doctors..need help

It would be normal to feel

It would be normal to feel somewhat anxious or even a little depressed about stress and turmoil in your life. However when these effects last for a long period, the issues go beyond simply drama in your life and it is possible that you are suffering from a mood or anxiety disorder. Two years is a long time to be feeling those effects and your symptoms most closely describe major depressive disorder or dysthymic disorder (a milder version of major depressive disorder).

Making changes to your lifestyle is probably a good first step in feeling better. Reducing things that make you feel stressed and adding more pleasurable and relaxing activities may be enough to pull you out of this. However since this has gone on for so long you might also seek help from a mental health professional. If you are afraid of doctors you might be able to try a family counselor or a licensed clinical social worker to start.

Best of luck,
Dr. Williams
