Our 21 year old daughter is a compulsive liar. She has been involved in some drug use. We can't seem to motivate her to get a job or go to school. Some of life choices have depressed me greatly. How do we handle her? She is making my life miserable.

If your daughter is 21 years

If your daughter is 21 years old then she is legally an adult and you cannot force her to do the right thing. When she was growing up you had your opportunity to exert your influence and instill your values. Now it is up to her to make her own choices. If you are financially supporting her it is probably time to stop. Let her get her own money for drugs or other things she needs. You need to focus less on how to handle her and focus more on your own coping right now. A therapist can help you sort through all of your feelings.

Best of luck,
