I literally woke up obsessing
I literally woke up obsessing in the morning to being free that afternoon.
I suffred with OCD for 7 years, thousands of physical and mental rituals a day and today I'm free. No medicine, no therapy, just a renewed mind.
If you had the option to renew your mind, to walk away from OCD and never have to deal with all your compulsions again, the option to have peace, would you do it? You and I both know the answer to that question; many, if not all of you, are looking for that answer today. You’re not going to find it with the conventional wisdom and rational understanding of those who don’t even understand it themselves. Keep in mind I’m not putting down doctors, therapists or anyone else. However, to understand OCD, really understand OCD, you would have had to go through it, lived in it, and lived with it. As I stated before, I did, and I know how you can feel the way I feel today, FREE!!!
But you will have to make the decision to renew your mind; and, whatever your decision may be, I want you to know that I’ve been there and I’ve come out. You might be telling yourself, “There is no way for me because it runs in my family.” But I can assure you that I’ve been to the pit and suffered like you; and, today I’m free even though it ran in my family as well.
What a wonderful feeling to be able to say that I’m free. I know you want to experience this freedom as well. I want to encourage you by that there is hope in your situation, that you don’t have to conform to societies “that’s just the way it is” mentality, and that living this life full of rituals and compulsions is the way that it’s always going to be. Or maybe you’re saying, “I’ve always had OCD and I always will.” However, I can say this, “You can not be happy living that way”.
There is a freedom in never having to look back again; and no matter what life brings across your path, you will be able to face the opposition you’re up against. Medicine can only last for so long and therapy can only go so far; what about later down the road when you face a difficult situation, when something traumatic happens in your life and you feel all the anxiety and emotions coming back on you. Understand, I’m not wishing that on anyone; but, life is full of ups and downs, and you will face difficult times in your life. Do you want to fall back on rituals, change medications and go back to therapy every week? I can promise you a cure that will not fail.
Friend, let me help you let go of the pain that you’re going through - the same way I did and the same way you can if you choose. The very same thing that perhaps you’re going through today, your loved ones are going through, or someone you may encounter in the future that you might be able to help by lending a helping hand, because, for those with OCD, there is no other effective way.

You have a couple options for
You have a couple options for self treatment. Keep in mind however that self treatment generally only works when you have mild OCD. If you have severe or moderate OCD your odds of treating yourself effectively are slim and in that case you should seek professional treatment if at all possible.
In regards to what your options are, the first would be to read some OCD self help books. These books -- written by OCD experts -- are educational but also give and explain self-help techniques. Three of the books I would recommend are Stop Obsessing by Edna Foa, Brain Lock by Jeffrey Schwartz and The OCD Workbook by Bruce Hyman. The books by Foa and Hyman are very highly rated.
Another option I would recommend is a computer program called CT Steps (www.ctsteps.com). It is self-help behavioral therapy website. Upon looking at it just now, it seems to be sponsored by Luvox, which is advertising its product there. Despite this, CT Steps has been shown to be potentially effective. So you don't need to be on Luvox to do it (although Luvox is a proven OCD drug).
Best of luck,
Dr. Williams
