It can be hard to even make a phone call if you are suffering from a disorder known as Social Phobia, also called social anxiety disorder (SAD). People with SAD have overwhelming anxiety and excessive self-consciousness in everyday social situations. The fear can be so severe that it interferes with work or school, and other ordinary activities.

What you can do is write out what you want to say in advance. Jot down the reasons you are calling and list some of your symptoms. Say you would like to set up an appointment for an evaluation and treatment recommendations. The person on the other end of the line will be able to take it from there.

Best of luck,
