I got on OTC about 10 months ago and I basically got on it because I have a boyfriend and also was having a small acne problem like a few blemishes on my forehead and chin (T-lines) and when I got on it I broke out BAD. I mean bad! My face had blemishes all over it and the first pill pack was bad, the second worse but by the third it was slowly getting better. Now 9 months later I have the clearest face I've had in a while. But whenever I start a new pill pack the first ones (white) make me VERY sick if I don't eat alot of food right before I take it. If I just take it 30 minutes after the food is in my stomach I get extremly sick and vommit until I can't vommit anymore. It has made me miserable in a way because once a month I get sick for a few days and its a horrible feeling but I do have clear skin. I'm now off of it because I can't stand it anymore and my boyfriend is sick of waking up in the middle of the night to hold my hair back while I cry throwing up everywhere. It an expensive form of BC also because my insurance didn't cover it because its not a nessecary BC pill and is mainly for acne so it runs me 45 bucks a month. I know its too strong for me but it was worth it for a while because I didn't feel good in the world with my face dotted with blemishes and small red scars from the past everywhere. I heard about OTC, read about it and saw it one TV. I also came here to this forum to hear what other girls were saying and it really made me question shoud I, shouldn't I.....and I did. It has helped me in ways but I am done with it because I feel poisoned from it. All I can say is that every girl is different and every girls body will react a different way but I recommend that:
-If you have acne problems and nothing else is working like tropical ointments and creams then TRY it...after 4-5 months (you have to give it that and you WILL get worse acne at first) if it doesn't work then I don't know what will but I bet your skin will get better. I don't even gets zits when I'm on my period anymore!
-If you just want birth control protection....get on anything else beside OTC....its a very strong dosage and makes you feel yucky at times....like morning sickness.
Trial and error....thats it....but give it a chance if you feel its right for you.

email me if you want any more advice...i'm just a typical girl just like you all and I went through it.

Also I think the best face wash out there for acne problems has got to be Clinque 3-step wash!

>>My skin also got worse. I used to break out occasionally and used Clean n Clear. Now that I take Ortho Tri Ccylen, I'm constantly broken out and no acne product will get rid of it. I'm considering getting off bc pills altogether and use the withdrawal method(natural method). I'm 19 and don't intend on getting pregnant. See if maybe you could be switched to Modicon 28. I was on that at age 17 and I liked that one.

>>>>I started taking Ortho Tri Cyclen five months ago, for birth control purposes. My skin was clear before, but now it's gotten TERRIBLE. I swear it's because of the Pill; my girl friend had ths same problem. Her skin was great before trying out Ortho, and her complexion becamse horrible a few months into taking the pill. She stopped, and the acne went away. I was just wondering if this is common, since the "Statistics" say 9/10 women actually benefit skin-wise from the Pill?! Any responses appreciated, thanks.
