After my husband and I had our second child we decided to go on Depo Provera,
due to what we had been told by my Doctor. It seemed easy and safe! After
my second shot I was not feeling the best and was gaining quite a bit of
unwanted pounds. After starting many diets and talking to a herbal life
representative I went and got a pregnancy test and guess what? It was
positive! After going to see my Dr. and having a vaginal ultra sound, which
could not be performed, she did regular ultrasound and couldn't believe
her eyes. After doing some measuring she calculated me at 22 weeks pregnant.
5 1/2 months along in my pregnancy and having a shot on top of being pregnant
we were scared to death! 3 1/2 months to plan for an unexpected child is
very costly and emotional to the family. Our oldest child was 2 1/2 and
our son was just 1 years old. After delivery I passed a blood clot the
size of the baby or a soccer ball and passed out. After calling the
Dr. back to the hospital and the quick response of the nurses I was revived.
Thank God it all turned out okay, but what complications may I have in the
future, or for that matter our daughter may have. Is this safe to take
while being pregnant? I would very much support a class action lawsuit
of the depo provera to be taken off the market.

I did write many letters to UpJohn in response of this and they refused
to explain, other than we must have been one of the less than 1% failure
rate. Please keep us posted!
