I think that it has been shown that spermidices are not linked to birth defects, but it is true that they cause irritation and allergy in many women. I recommend Persona, a European fertility computer that will tell you when it's safe to have sex. No drugs, no devices, to charting necessary. It's not yet available in the US, but you can order it from Canada. (One similar US device made by the same company is ClearPlan Easy Fertility Monitor, which is for use in women trying to figure out when they are fertile because they are trying to get pregnant.)

>>I was on the pill for 5 years and have stopped- concerned about breast cancer, fertility, and didn't like feeling yucky all the time. Can't use depo-provera because of depression reactions to pills with the ame ingredients. No IUD- have had abnormal paps, want kids. Tried a diaphram- husband and I got horrible urinary tract infections from spermicide; have a few other concerns about spermicide- birth-defects, breaking down of vaginal tissue. Want children sooner than Norplant would allow. Husband won't use condoms- loses erection. Currently using withdrawl (stupid to do, not very nice). He doesn't trust the rhythm method, and what to do while figuring out my cycles accurately anyway? Is there any other option in the US?
