The insert that comes with depo-provera, warns that a weight gain of 8lbs per year is average. Of the many people I know that have used depo-provera, including me, the average is more along the lines of 8 lbs a month or more. Before I used depo-provera I to was a size 8, I am now about a size 16-18. Had I know that the weight gain would be so severe, and so impossible to lose, I would not have chosen it. I take another medication whose main side effect is weight loss, even it (dextroanphetimine- a form of speed used to treat ADD) has no effect. The drug company has not disclosed all of the fact regarding depo, and I believe that they should be made to.
