Hello, My name is Rachel and I am 25 years old. I am mainly concerned with Depo provera causing back pain and bone problems. I have never had any back pains in my whole life. I woke up one morning after about a month or a month and a half after my first injection of Depo feeling like someone hammered my spine while I slept. I have experienced a multitude of other side effects from Depo (I think) such as headaches, massive nausea, diarheaa (whenever I eat, instantly yet I continue to gain weight), and various random bone pains, but the back pain is very bad. I went to my doctor and he said it had nothing to with the Depo, but today doing research, I have seen that every document states back pain is a possible side effect. He suggested a board under my address and nightly stretches. It's been almost six months now and my back pain is getting worse I think. I'm down to one position I can sleep in semi-comfortably. I've also noticed random bone pains on a weekly basis. One day it was my wrist, one day it was my thigh, then my calf, recently my knees. I don't really have any options left in birth control, except condoms but me and my boyfriedn hate them. I got pregnant with an IUD in (3 in 99 chance, nice, hey?, but my body rejected the pregnancy after a day or two) and I really didn't like the pill either. I felt like Depo would be a good choice but after reading the stories here today, I'm frightened. I have 20 days to deiced if I'm going to take my third injection and I have to figure out if I think the back pain is caused by tthe Depo or not. I would really really appreciate a reply to this or some insight from fellow sufferer's, either on the webiste or to me personally would be great. My e-mail address is : [email protected]
