>>>>I too had a baby girl who is almost 8 months old I got the depro shot in March and now want to start trying to have another baby. It also took me a year to concieve my daughter and I don't want it to be that long again. I have not had a period since I got the shot. And I also wonder how long it will take for it to get out of my system. How do you know when it is? By morning sickness?!?

I hope that most of you on deprovera shots are on it because you couldn't use the pill. I am pondering whether to get the shots or not. I am 41 and have no desire for more children. I did extremely well on the pill but of course I believe whenever we take ANY form of birth control we are taking risks to our health, even with diaphrams (possibly irritations to the cervix, etc). Like anything else it likely depends on the individual. I quit the pill to have my second child and it only took about 3 months before I was pregnant. During those 3 months I had my light periods (that I tend to have on the pill) and 2-3 months of spotting. I was already pregnant when I was spotting and didn't find out I was pregnant until the 3rd month. Then, I took the pill when I was nursing (made especially for nursing mothers). Went off it when I quit nursing and got pregnant that month! I would hate to gain weight and not have any periods. Like you said, how do you know if you are pregnant? I worried about that with the pill, although I always had a period, just light ones...so I would've known (probably). Nothing is the same for everyone. I think if I were in your shoes I would explore the pill as an option even though a shot if awfully convenient...only because you want more children. Maybe find something that you atleast have periods with. Plus remember that the shot was supposed to be for 3 months. Heck temporary haircolor on me is permanent until it grows out. Ya never know. I want my husband to get a vasectomy and I may still look into contraceptives to relieve my premenopausal (or lack of the pill) "constant feeling of being hot".
