After reading other testamonies about this horror drug, I consider myself quite lucky in comparison.
I have already had two kids and took 1 dosage of depo last November, as an alternative to the pill. My sex drive dropped dramatically, (to the disgust of my husband).
I opted not to have another dose as I was not happy with this side effect. So, since Feburary this year I have gained over 21 pounds. There were some days where I could literally gain and/or loose a dress size in 2 days.
This wouldn't be so much of an issue if I didn't have a bone disease in my right leg. My surgeons advised me to watch my weight more than an average person, to avoid a stress fracture. ( I cannot run or jump, and can only do gentle exercise.)
I knew before taking depo that some weight gain could happen, but I was never informed by any medical professional that it could have been this much.
In conclusion, this weight gain caused by depo has caused a great change in my lifestyle with this disease.
