>>No one told me the long term effects of the depo shot not even my doctor. I only had 3 shots then my husband and I decided we would like to have a baby. Then I found out it could take 6 months to a year to even have my period again and there is nothing the doctor can do you just have to wait it out. Its very depressing. If you want to have kids or you dont I would advise anyone not to go on the deprovera shot!!!!

Hello! I am glad I found this web site. I have been on the shot since the beginning of 1994. I had my first son Dec. 93. After his birth, I starting taking the pill. I began to get severe migraines, so was instructed not to take the pill anymore. My doctor suggested the shot. At that time, she told me she didn't want me to take it longer than a year because it was so new and no one knew the side effects. I continued to take the shot until Oct. 95. I found out I was pregnant with my second son in Feb. I continued with the shot after his birth. I've never had any problems bleeding...I don't have a period at all. The problems I'm having are much more severe. I became severely depressed and have gained 70 lbs since my last child. I have great mood swings, profuse hot flashes, and severe anxiety. I didn't put these in play with my shot. I began taking depression and anxiety medication and was refered to a counselor. My counselor thinks that I am going into menopause (I'm 26)due to being on the shot for so long. My shot is due on July 3, 2002. I am not getting it and will go from there to see how I begin to feel.
