>>I have taken Ortho Tri Cyclene for a year and a half and I am married. I take my pills correctly. My last period started on the third day of my inactive pills and was lighter than normal and lasted 5 days. The period before that came on the second day of my inactive pills and was heavy and lasted 7 days. This past weekend I spotted for about a day and stopped. This has happened to me before (6 years ago) when I found out I was pregnant with my first child so I asked my husband to buy me a pregnancy test, I took it and it came out negative. I was worried about being pregnant that night and I forgot to take my pill until the next night (I took two at once). The next day I took the pill about 4-5 hours late. I have no idea why I took those three pills wrong because I have not ever missed a pill. Anyway, Birth control makes your period come every month so if I was pregnant and I kept taking the pills and I kept getting my period(I have been extremely tired lately and have been having lots of headaches) and if I take the test it comes out negative-What does all this mean? Can Birth control cause negative pregancy tests?
>>I have not spotted with my pills since I first started them. So this not an ongoing thing for me. I am also not unuasuall stressed. Nothing really has changed. My husband travels monday through Friday and has been doing so for about a year now. So we only have intercourse on Fri., Sat., or Sun.

>>My main question is can Birth control cause negative pregancy tests?

Well, I have been on desogen (more mild than Ortho tri cyclen). To your main question: I have no idea. But, I had the same problem as you while on desogen... I took over 10 home pregnancy tests..all were negative. I knew that I was pregnant. I didn't know whether it was symptoms of a false pregnancy or not. But, I knew that I felt pregnant. I had a hcg blood test performed at about 3 months after my missed period. I guess I was waiting to see if my birthcontrol just stopped my period for a while, after all the home tests were all negative, right? Well,I was pregnant. In my situation, it was not a healthy pregnancy. I experienced all of the signs and symptoms of pregnancy as you. At 7 weeks pregnant, my hcg showed that I was 5 days pregnant. The only thing that I suggest is you get a blood test done. Beware of assisted miscarriage. Low hcg #'s does not neccessarily mean it is an unhealthy pregnancy. I have heard many stories where women with EXTREMELY LOW hog levels have had perfectly healthy pregnancies and babies.
