My doctor told me that Diane 35 was not 'officially' a birth control pill...but I spoke with my natropath and she told me that Diane has been used as an acne and birth control method in Europe and Australia for the past 10 years. It has been accepted in North America as an acne medication because the research has been done and accepted. There supposedly is not enough 'birth control' research (In North America) for doctors to be able to say "Yes, Diane IS a birth control pill" My natropath said the hormones WILL prevent pregnancy, no doubt...but the lack of info on Diane 35 as a birth control method can be attributed to the lack of research. Doctors and pamplets/ info packages can only ensure acne control. hope this helps.
