I was on the shot for 2 years. My period stopped and then about three months after my last shot, I started my period. I found the effects of the shot likened my body to being pregnant. I gained 40 pounds, mainly around my middle, breasts and upper thighs, just as I did when I was pregnant. My nails and hair grew fast and thick. When I went off the shot, quite a lot of my hair feel out an the growth of my finger nails slowed considerably. I have had achey joints and my period is not very inconsistent, but monthly I have very severe cramping with nothing else. I am now battling the bulge and can't seem to gain any headway
