How do I know if I have BPD? Is there any text I can make?

Submitted by Maria Tue 10/19/2010

People with borderline personality disorder have a pattern of unstable relationships, unstable emotions and poor self image. To determine whether or not you officially meet the criteria for borderline personality disorder, you need to have 5 of the following 9 symptoms.

1.Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment
2.Unstable and intense relationships
3.Unstable self image or identity disturbance
4.Impulsiveness in 2 areas that are potentially self damaging, such as spending, sex, drugs, reckless driving, binge eating, etc.
5.Suicidal gestures or deliberate self harm
6.Mood instability and extreme mood swings
7.Chronic feelings of emptiness
8.Intense anger or outbursts
9.Stress related paranoia or dissociative symptoms

If that sounds like you, then it is possible that you have borderline personality disorder. Borderline personality disorder is a severe and serious problem that people may struggle with their whole lives.

Best of luck,
