i am a short girl 5"1" i think about my height very much i'm worried that no body will love me because im short,i worry that i'm ugly because i'm short, walking on the street i check my height with everyone to see if im shorter than them,i have fears going out without high heels and i feel depressed when i'm not wearing heels,i have a boyfriend he is very tall 6"2" i have fear and thoughts about him leaving me because i'm short ,i am planning for a height surgery although it is a very painful risky procidure and....my height issues are really affecting my life and my self confidence and i don't know what to do with it,do you really think that i physically have a height disorder that i should do something about,or is it just the state of my mind and i should do some mental therapies?
While 5"1' is not considered tall, it is definitely not an abnormally short height either. Based on what you said in your posting what you are experiencing is definitely a problem with your mind rather than your
height and you are certainly suffering from some low self esteem issues as well.
Your obsessions regarding your height/appearance sound like either OCD, which you can read more about here:
http://www.brainphysics.com/ocd.php or body dysmorphic disorder which you can learn about here (http://www.brainphysics.com/bdd_gorbis.php). The worst thing you can do would be to get some sort of surgery to fix the problem as it ultimately wouldn't fix the problem in your mind. You would either still obsess about your height or find a new flaw to fixate on. I would recommend seeing a psychologist, who can diagnose your problem and then assist in addressing your obsessions.
Even if you were abnormally short, that is not your problem. The way we view ourselves has a lot to do with our minds. Even the most attractive or normal person can feel inadequate or ugly, whereas an ugly person could be full of confidence and successful. You need to learn how to view yourself in a healthy way.
Best of luck,
