About the BrainPhysics Site

The BrainPhysics Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder website was developed to offer information, resources, and support for people suffering from OCD and related spectrum disorders. Started by a graduate student in California, the founder of this site was first diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder in 1995 and was hospitalized twice for OCD related difficulties. In the course of his illness, he experienced many ups and downs, before becoming unable to continue his work with this site in 2001.

The materials on this site are a product of the work of the site consultants, students at the University of Virginia, and the OC & Spectrum Disorders Association. Despite the challenge OCD and related disorders present, it is possible to overcome OCD. Through a combination of quality behavioral therapy and good medication management, obsessions and compulsions can be brought under control. It is the aim of this site to provide education and peer support about these treatable disorders.
