So I've been diagnosed with Depression for about a year, except a month ago, my boyfriend broke up with me, and since then I've had really bad nausea, and alot of trouble eating. Is this all in my mind? Cos I've been so upset?

I am sorry to hear about your

I am sorry to hear about your depression and relationship problems. What many people don't realize is that depression can cause physical symptoms in addition to feelings of sadness. Physical symptoms can include back aches, headaches, fatigue, trouble sleeping, loss of appetite, loss of sex drive, restlessness, and even stomach problems -- in your case nausea. In some countries, like China, people who are depressed may only have physical symptoms instead of emotional ones.

It's "all in your head" to the extent that the problems are caused by your brain. Your brain, however, is a part of your body too. It's all connected. What you need is time to heal and someone to talk to for support. Talk with someone with whom you feel comfortable or confide in some trusted friends. If you keep feeling sad and it doesn't go away, or if you feel like hurting yourself, see a professional right away.

Best of luck,
Dr. Williams
