Double Doses of the pill

I was recently put on double doses of my BirthControl Pill for irregular bleeding then switched to my regular cycle. Being a perfect pill taker how is it that I became pregnant? This is not an easy one to explain. I have only been on the pill for about 8 months. I am already a mother of four. I knew I was fertile but I don't know how this is possible.
