I went to they gynocologist today. When I told her about my symptoms--
no period, depression, mood swings, being tired all of the time, being
hungry all of the time--she checked to see how much estrogen I had in my
body. She said I am basically in menopause at age 23!!!

She said this is the result of the Depo---that she has several patients
with these problems and for that reason you must specifically ask for it
(and will be given the shot only after a long talk and a lot of thought)
or you must be a sexually active adolescent who eithier can't remember
to take pills or use a barrier method or who has been pregnant before (she
says she would rather help them deal with the side effects than be pregnant
at 15 or 16). Otherwise, she will not administer it or recommend it.
She told me to take Prometrium for 10 days--1 per day. She said
that should trigger a period. When it does, I am supposed to start taking
Ortho-tricyclen and go for a follow up visit in December. If I don't start
I am supposed to go back in 10 days so she can try another treatment and
give me an antidepressent so that I feel at least a little bit better until
I can get back on the pill and get some estrogen in my body.

I also asked if I am facing infertility in the future--she said she's not sure
right now but that if she can find the right balance and get me straightened
out probably not. (In other words she doesn't know!)

I am absolutely furious! My health is a wreck because of one stupid shot!
